Dr. Chang’s enthusiasm for this art has also fueled his undergraduate seminar, “Surgical Anatomy of the Hand: From Rodin to Reconstruction” with students studying the hands that Rodin created and their perceived medical conditions aided by advanced technology. Three-dimensional scans of the sculptures combined with CT scans of patients’ bones, nerves and blood vessels create a new “augmented reality” that reveals the pathologies beneath the bronze and even allows students to perform virtual surgery.
This remarkable seminar inspired an exhibition that allows museum visitors to experience Rodin’s hands in much the same manner as Dr. Chang’s students.

Mit den Vorläufern von W. Bush hat sich auch tagesschau.de befasst, allerdings widmet man sich hier seinen Vorgängern in der Kunstgeschichte. Klar: Rembrandt, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Lovis Corinth, Picasso, Paula Modersohn-Becker usw. 

Zwar ist Rembrandts „Selbstporträt als Krieger“ nicht so farbenfroh wie die Präsidenten-Kopie. Aber gegen einen Künstler wie George W. Bush sieht eben auch ein echter Rembrandt ziemlich blass aus. 

Vor einiger Zeit hat sich Jerry Saltz bereits über W. Bushs Malkünste geäußert. Vermutlich hat der auch einfach nur auf ihn gehört: 

Paint, George, paint. Paint more. Please. If you exhibit it, I’ll write about it. The Whitney Museum of American Art should get on the stick and offer this American a small show.

[Anderson provided] a lot of input — particularly paintings by Bronzino, Holbein, Cranach; all sorts of stuff. I’d send suggestions and he would say, „Yes, yes, we must have that,“ or „Why not some other color sleeve?“ and so on. Some of it was very specific, but sometimes it was pretty broad, even contradictory — until I realized that maybe he wanted something that felt like it might have existed, but in some slightly parallel place.
