To some people, Instagram is all about breakfasts and selfies in swimsuits. But if you go against the logic of the medium like Teju Cole does, you can make images and texts collide. Cole has written extensively on literature, photography, social media, and on travelling. His essays are now finally published as a book: „Known and Strange Things“. We talked to the American-Nigerian novelist, photographer and art critic about extinct animals, the art of cheap vernacular pictures and about his social media use.
